COUPLE'S THERAPY

What we know about couple's therapy has evolved significantly over the last 40+ years.  With that being said, Leah uses a research-based method for couple's therapy, called the Gottman Method.  The goal of this method is to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy in conflicting situations, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship. For more information on what to expect, please watch the video below with Drs. John and Julie Gottman.

Since the Gottman Method is research-based, Leah uses specific assessments that help identify focal and intervention points in the relationship.  The assessment portion of couples therapy occurs over the course of three sessions.  Assessment administration and scoring services performed by Leah includes time spent to administer, score, and conceptualize all of the data.  These specific assessments and services are not typically covered by insurance companies, therefore this portion of services is paid separately from regular sessions as a one-time fee.  If you would like more information about this one-time fee and method of therapy, please contact info@guidedpath.org

If you do not want to participate in the assessments and this method, that's okay!  We have other GP therapists that would love to work with you!
