DeDe Rowan, MMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist, NASM Certified Trainer

Meet Dede. A natural-born listener and empath, who knew she was destined to be a therapist since she was a teenager. Dede’s strengths include creating an instant feeling of comfort and relief, which builds the foundation of a strong and trusting relationship between you and her (or the client and therapist). Dede focuses on building emotional intelligence and awareness, identifying healthy coping skills that are applicable to your life, and strengthening your self-love and self-compassion.

In addition to therapy, Dede is an active group fitness instructor and personal trainer. Dede incorporates positive reinforcement and motivation to keep you recharged and committed during your journey of health. Dede is educated, experienced, and gifted to support you in this courageous choice to meet the depths of yourself in order to create the life you want to live.

Dede attended the University of Tennessee where she received her bachelors in Psychology and Trevecca Nazarene University where she received her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. The majority of Dede’s clinical experience includes clients with eating disorders, substance abuse, severe anxiety and depression, and low self esteem and self worth. Dede has a special heart for working with the younger population during their formative years before and entering early adulthood. Regardless, Dede welcomes all individuals and walks of life to therapy with no judgement or discrimination. Dede addresses the here and now to aid in the presenting problem, while slowly exploring your upbringing as a child to highlight the why’s behind your behaviors, attitudes, perceptions, and beliefs.

After working as a high school therapist, Dede recognized the lack of curriculum and education dedicated to self care, self awareness, and relational skill building. We simply were not taught how to get to know ourselves and how to take care of ourselves and our relationships on a deep emotional level. The majority of therapy involves learning about yourself, appreciating who you are, and taking ownership over your life.

May the choice to start therapy be one of the most, if not the most, empowering decision you’ve ever made! Dede cheers you on for being courageous and offers encouragement to continue to be curious together!
